 The followings are the basic types of reactive power control elements which makes all or parts of SVC

 Saturated reactor

 1.     Thyristor controlled Reactor

 2.     Thyristor switched capacitor

 3.     Thyristor Switched Reactor

 4.     Thyristor controlled Transformer

 APPLICATION OF STATIC VAR COMPENSATOR

 ·        Connected to the power system, to regulate the transmission voltage (“Transmission

                        SVC”)   

 ·        Connected near large industrial loads, to improve power quality (“Industrial SVC”)
